PhD Program: Courses The Wharton School’s umbrella for all of its doctoral programs is the PhD in Managerial Science and Applied Economics. The PhD in Health Care Management and Economics thus requires students to take courses in the discipline-based departments at Wharton as well as in the interdisciplinary health care program.
Health Management. The Health Management (HM) stream in the Business Administration PhD program has a strong emphasis on both research and the application of management and evaluation techniques and is designed to produce highly motivated and capable researchers and practitioners.
Wharton’s PhD program in Health Care Management and Economics provides rigorous training in applied economics and management coupled with advanced training in health care systems and health services research. Faculty members engage in a broad range of research related to health care management, economics, and policy.
Our PhD graduates are expected to further the development of these core areas, to lead in the design, initiation and management of effective change in health care, and to contribute to the education of future scholars in health policy and clinical practice.

The Health Care Administration PhD specialization will help you develop essential perspectives and skills for application of theoretical and research-based health care industry management issues. Through NCU’s one-to-one mentoring approach, you will explore identification, resolution, analysis and intervention of administrative issues and their delivery systems.
PhD programme in Person-Centred Healthcare We offer a cross-disciplinary PhD programme in Person-Centred Healthcare. The aim of the programme is to educate for research aiming at producing new knowledge to develop and support person-centred healthcare practice, including health promotive, bio-medical, organizational and political preconditions for such practices.
